Due to the massive amount of spambot accounts we have attempting to access this forum, it has been deemed necessary to have all new accounts approved by an admin before they are activated. Unfortunately, it can be difficult determining which accounts are real people and which are bots.

Therefore, I would ask that anybody trying to register on the forum to have as their username something recognisable, or alternatively to send me an email - important: use Rick28781@hotmail.com, not the forum address - seperate to your resgistration confirming that you exist. In either case, if you have not been approved after a few days, then feel free to email me to let me know, or mention it at the club.

Hopefully we can improve board security at some point so we don't get as many spam requests, then we can automate the registrations again.

Oh, and don't register with a Russian email address, or you'll be deleted immediately...

It would be also helpfull for the mods if you could at least post once, i.e introduce yourself so we know you are an active viable member, and we won't delete you by mistake.

I have noticed some bots are slipping in gaming references in there names, so please post an intro to let us know your real.

In all honesty, I think what me and Rick were talking about Thursday gone would be the better solution: start the forum again from scratch so that we can actually instigate the verification process and no-one has to have their inbox flooded.

Actually, it might be alright - I've spent the last few days on a bit of a pre-banning blitz (not individual accounts), and in the last 18 hours or so (since I went to bed last night) there is just 1 sign-up to approve/reject. This is down from a daily average of 15-20 last week.

I'm not going to declare it a success just yet, but if these trends continue, then I can reopen user-activated signups.
